To This Day
By Tingrin10
Recently I watched a video called, “To This Day”. This video had some very strong messages in them. It was presented by Shane Koyczan, a Canadian poet, and how he was mistreated and bullied as a child.
One thing I connected to was that a boy I know had been like Shane. Everybody called him mean names. He just went up to his room and started crying. He didn’t want anybody to see him so he just stayed in his room all day.
I connected to the part when he was called a terrible name like Shane. He was home schooled because he didn’t want anybody to call him mean names, know him, or see him. But eventually he tried to resist how friends and others were mean.
The message of this video was don’t give up and keep defending yourself if you are getting bullied. So believe in yourself and don’t let people drag you down.
I learned how you should fight back a bit if you’re in a situation like Shane. Also, I think, be nice to people even if they are different - it doesn’t mean you should bully them like the others.
